Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU)

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University or BAOU was established in 1994. It is recognised by UGC and approved by the Association of Indian Universities. The university is ranked #3 as per the NIRF 2024 rankings in the Open University category. Through its 4 schools of study, BAOU Ahmedabad offers UG, PG, PhD, Certificate, and Diploma courses to students across Arts, Commerce, Science, Education, Management, and other streams. Bahasaheb University Ahmedabad, has established over 7 regional centres and more than 270 study centres across Gujarat. The university offers more than 80 courses in a distance learning mode. At the UG level, BAOU Ahmedabad courses include BA, BCom, BCA, BBA, and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), among others. Furthermore, BAOU Ahmedabad offers MBA, MCom, MCA, and other courses at the PG level. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University also offers online courses through its Centre for Online Education (COE). BAOU course admissions are merit-based for most of the courses offered at the university. The university has a student network of 3 Lakh students. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University has collaborated with many national and international organisations. BAOU University Ahmedabad has signed MoUs with institutions such as Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Astrakhan State University, Russia, and Stree Chetana, among others. Baba Saheb University Ahmedabad, has a separate Training and Placement Cell (TPC), which provides placement assistance to its students. The placement cell regularly organises training programmes to help students bag good placements.
